In the first place there is so much to do here. Firstly, the centre is overflowing with some of the finest independent shops in Britain and there are some wonderful restaurants. There are also many luxury hotels, Georgian guesthouses, country cottages and apartments in the centre that are worth staying overnight in. They will provide you with a hassle-free trip so that you can enjoy this vibrant city! I think this makes Bath the ideal place for a unique city break or a long weekend.
Top Attractions
When I was planning my trip to Bath the first things on my bucket list was The Roman Baths and the Bath Abbey. Neither disappointed me! For instance the architectural magnificence, interactive museum and audio guides make the Roman Baths a wonderful experience for all ages. Coupled with this, Bath Abbey provides a glimpse into the religion and Norman architecture that has established the Bath we know and love today.
Georgian Architecture in Bath
Strolling around the city’s streets and honey-coloured Georgian architecture makes you feel as if the city has been pulled straight out of a Jane Austen novel. As a result, this makes the city the perfect place for those of you who are, like me, obsessed with Jane Austen. Together with this, the Jane Austen Centre allows you to become acquainted with the young Jane and her writing, dress up in Regency clothes and dine with Mr Darcy (my personal favourite – see the end photo)!
Fun Things To Do For Free
Above all this, Bath is home to unbelievably stunning early sunrises, a diverse range of landscapes that includes the impressive River Avon and picturesque hills that circle the city. Strolling around the city you can see the Pulteney Bridge, Royal Victoria Park and the Crescent. All of which offer a unique glimpse at a distinct part of Bath’s history.
Prior Park Landscape Garden
Prior Park Landscape Garden is not only one of England’s hidden gems but it offers a fantastic day of walking. I recommend going here as it offers incredible views of the city whilst privileging you with access to the first English Landscape Garden that inspired the rest of Europe.
Best Time To Visit Bath
The best time to visit the city is in the summer as you can also experience the festivals. The Jane Austen festival and the Bath Festival bring the city alive with a celebration of the Arts and if this isn’t enough, there is a diverse collection of museums, galleries, theatre and sport. There is something for everyone!

These structures are so magnificent! It is just amazing that the people of those early times were able to build such beautiful, massive structures. The Crescent is awesome! Oh, and Prior Park too. Love the views and the rolling landscapes.
Wow! I had no idea Bath had all these incredible buildings. The Roman Baths in particular are so photogenic! Would love to check those out, all the cathedrals and then have a scone and tea at the Jane Austen Centre. Perfect Day!
